Florida Fest in Jackson County

Country music acts coming to Florida Fest





Three people who grew up in Jackson County have put together a music festival called Florida Fest to be held this Oct. 7-8 near Cottondale, with several well-known country music stars in the line-up, along with some bands closer to home.



John Michael Montgomery, Daryle Singletary, T. Graham Brown, Andy Griggs, Confederate Railroad, Cross Creek Junction, and Shane Owens are on the bill for Friday, Oct. 7.



On Saturday, Oct. 8, Diamond Rio, Jamey Johnson, Chris Cagle, Outshyne, Tobacco Road, Houston Deese, Shawn Rader, James Matthews Hughes, King Cotton and the Bittersweet Blues Band take the stage.



The event is being held at the old Twin Oaks golf course property near Cottondale, at 3071 U.S. 90.



Gates open at noon on Friday, with music cranking up at 2 p.m. The gates open at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, with music beginning at 10 a.m.



General admission tickets are $40 for Friday, $50 for Saturday. A two-day pass is available for $75, and VIP tickets are available for $150. Children 12-and-under get in free if they are accompanied by an adult.



The VIP section has chairs for seating, but all others should bring lawn chairs. No coolers, beverages or foods may be brought into the festival grounds, but vendors inside will offer non-alcoholic drinks and food for purchase. Craft vendors will also offer a variety of wares for purchase.



Parking is $10 a day per vehicle for standard-size cars and trucks, or $50 a day for oversize parking.



The event is organized by Ray Windham and directed by Shannon Chatwood in partnership with Mike Braxton.
